Energy Audits Large companies and energy intensive companies are obliged to perform energy audits
Recent Decree 102/2014 forces large companies and energy intensive companies to perform an energy audit on facilities on the Italian territory within 5th December 2015, carried out by certified energy services companies, energy management experts or energy auditors. The obligation doesn’t apply to certified companies adopting EMAS Management System, or already implementing ISO 50001 or ISO 14001 management system standards, in case an energy audit has already been performed or already forecasted by the management system, having followed the following minimal requirements:

Must be based on up-to-date operational energy data (measured and tracked), and on electrical energy load profiles. Must include a detailed analysis of buildings, facilities and production plants energy consumption profiles, including energy transport. Must be based on a life cycle perspective analysis and not simply on payback calculations. Must be sufficiently representative to allow drawing the whole picture of global energy performance in order to reliably identify and assess most relevant improvement opportunities.

Also SMEs (Small-Medium enterprises) must perform the energy audit. In case of disregard a fine from 4.000 to 40.000 € is foreseen.
